Umm...no. Do some research. ATi started this trend, not nVIDIA. And actually, I think it was before the X800, but not 100% sure. Come on, man, don't be goin FUD on us.

That's hilarious, Ronin of all people trying to preach about FUD. The same guy that posted FUD CCC pictures in a sad little attempt to troll and got caught. Sad little guy...

Ronin's CCC FUD picture: http://server.counter-strike.net/images/misc/atimemusage2.png
Actual CCC usage: http://img436.imageshack.us/img436/2241/cccopen8vn.jpg

Oh of course Ronin would never stoop so low as to post peak load memory usage and pass it off as normal usage.

Keep preaching, child. My memory usage is what I saw. If you don't like it, tough. The fact that you would presume to accuse me that I specifically timed a screenshot to show higher memory usage is laffable at best. Christ, you're rich. Do you go to every thread and post the same drivel? Yes, I think you do. Get some new content, because your current stuff stinks.

Not to mention, bringing an argument that has nothing to do with the conversation at hand is even better. So, to follow your lead and stating something I've already said, stones and glass houses.

That's it? I expected more from a Harvard graduate. :disgust:

Again, misinformation. I attended Harvard Law post grad (after I completed my MBA). Why? Because I lived in Cambridge (Arlington, actually, which is right next to Cambridge) at the time, and I thought the experience would be good at the time. I didn't go to further my degree, just to further my studies somewhat.

Looks at the fith, sixth and seventh slide: Wahahahahahah. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh Man this is even worse than ATi's sides bashing nVidia for thier lack of SM3.0 complience. 1280x960 in FEAR is showing signs of CPU bottlenecking. Look at what happens once FSAA is turned on. 🙂 Black and White 2 just came out with a new patch that boosts ATi card performance, so all benchs with that game are now illrelevent unless they are tested with the new patch. FarCry is so CPU bound at 1600x1200 thats its not even funny.

Other slides: (still laughing) Doom 3 and Quake 4..........ya we know that nVidia still holdes the performance crown there....move along. HL2 LC dunno about that must be a benching anomoly because most of the reviews that I've seen show the X19 cards WAY ahead. HalfLife 2, CPU bound you moronic wackjobs.
The last 6: LOL! SLi marking goo[/QUOTE]

Mostly, this is just for laughs. Both Ati and Nv post BS slides about the competitor.
Agreed. This is pretty normal marketing practice; sometimes you get something useful but for the most part the slides from both vendors are junk.

The heat this thing generates is also not to be taken lightly, and while I could easily install my zalman vf700 on the new card to keep it quiet, I'm hesitant to do so since it will dump all the heat inside my case. Maybe one of these days I'll try it anyways.

Interested by the rest of what you had to say, but. If you made up some sort of ducting system for the Zalman, to guide the air out?

Possibly even use the existing plastic frame, just mod it for mouting offset, and cut to fit the ol' Zalman beasty?

And for a quick laugh. I can get 168 on FEAR's stress testing. Okay, okay, not the same res, or with as much eye candy. But nerner, my card must be superior!

hehe,.. yeah these slides can get pretty humerous

some of em are kinda odd though like this one HERE

now yeah they have circled the 512gtx sli running an average of about 5 fps more than x1900xt cfire,...ok but wtf,..look at the minimum fps,..thats a far greater showing in the only bracket that counts IMO,..which makes for just a better more playable experience,.... and they circle the 5fps dif on the average? that nobody in thier right mind would be able to tell apart alone from that,.. but the minimum,. is a different story entirely ,and thats what makes a game playable or not playable to me.so if they wanted to get across the playability of the 512gtx in sli,, why isnt that the focus?,...man either nvidia is sittin around smokin too much wacky tobaco while they make these things,..lol,..... or somethin is just odd about it,.. like t was somethin slapped on someones desk 20 minutes before clock out time,..so they slapped some stuff up on a sheetboard and clocked out,..lol

The problem I see with this approach is that the zalman has a fan designed to blow down on the card. The stock cooler has a turbine fan designed to push air sideways over the card and out the back. So I dont think the zalman cooler is suited for venting out the exhaust air, although I'd be interested if someone else tries a regular zalman on their x1900 and report on it's cooling performance.

Very true. Minimum fps is by far the most important stat. Anything over 40-50 fps and I'm unlikely to notice. Anything under 30 generally kills the experience.

The really funny thing is that from across the web they can only drag up a few examples of the 512MB GTX beating the X1900 most of them are at low resolution, without AA or AF or CPU limited.

I dunno, the farthest back I can reach is NV dissing the Kyro II. I'm sure it was done before then, but maybe the practice wasn't as publicized due to the industry being less analyzed. So, fewer leaks that made it to more mainstream outlets.

But it's probably true that FUD was here before us and will remain after us. Anyone who tells you otherwise is just spreading FUD. 😛
