X1800XT performance

Ok, so heres where im at.....

With my X1800XT running at 690/1550Mhz (cant go any higher or else severe artifacting) i get a score of 4700 in 3DMark06 (X2 3800+ @ 2.6Ghz, 2GB DDR500 @ 260Mhz) and this is without AA/AF and ony Quality Mini-Map Detail.


With 2xAA + Adaptive AA and 8xAF and High Quality Mini-Map detail i get a score of 4280

.....but is that a good enough score to run newer games (such as HL2, the new Battlefield game coming out, BF2, Far Cry, F.E.A.R) at these high quality settings on a 1280x1024 screen resolution?
How about 1600x1200 resolution?

1280x1024 you will be all set for awhile. BF2 HL2, and FC you should be able to run 1600x1200 just fine FEAR would be rough.

The switch to a Widescreen 1600x1200 monitor is still debatable (have to get the money first), so until then it looks like ill be fine.

There are no wide screen 1600x1200 monitors it would be 1680x1050 or so normally. Which is not as stressful as 1600x1200. So again you should be good to go.

You shouldn't have any issues... I have a similar setup and run most everything native at 1280-1024 with 4xAA & 8-16af without issue. The above metrics kinda validate the general playability offered by this card at high res...
