Just like your're doing it now yourself. LOL!

nVidia has the same basic company structure as the past and they will again get overconfident and overreach themselves [my prediction]

Thank God it's only your prediction which means .......... <- use your imagination

Where's all that "wonderful" ATI DX9 performance? 28 fps AVERAGE on a X850 XT PE, if you're lucky enough to have a FX55 pushing it? Uh Huh.

This game is basically unplayable on any ATI card at modern settings.

Another good reason to join me in the satisfied 7800 customers.

My point is usually missed by fan boys . . . everyone else 'got it' :p

Nope , not "my" company . . . it's Canadian ;)

My "predictions" re: ATI vs. nVidia has been correct the last three times-in-a-row and it ain't just my own analysis . . . some of it is pretty obvious

the difference is, this time nVidia has somewhat learned from their mistakes and will be much more careful in what they "promise" and "when" and how much info "leaks" . . . ati has yet to perfect this but is clearly working on it. . . .

Wow. I can't even understand what ATI is trying to do with Crossfire these days, it seems like they don't really want to sell any?

I suppose they did say in that interview it was too small a market to integrate the circuitry into their GPUs, so maybe they just DON'T care?

Love my SLI rigs, glad to be part of an "inconsequential" market.

Huh? Here's a link to another post about someone just getting his X1800XT (it's actually just a couple of posts above this one). It's a 512MB version and it clearly states that it's Crossfire ready. Am I missing something?

Here's the actual link to a picture of the box. Again, am I missing something?

Crossfire ready requires a Crossfire Master card and a Crossfire Motherboard for the whole solution.

Crossfire Ready does not equall Crossfire Master Card.

Ah ok that explains that. Now that's just confusing. I always figured it would be similar to SLI but apparently not.

Let's clarify further [as i understand it] . . . the people who just got the newly available x1800xt have one card of a "pair" . . . they then need to buy the 'master x1800x't to complete xfire [and their x-fire MB] . . . it's expected at the end of this month.

You wouldn't buy one . . . anyway . . . no matter 'what'

Please don't tell me what I would and would not buy. I beleive that my sig proves well enough that I'm not afraid to spend a bit to get what I want. Aren't you the guy who's waiting until PC's "catch up to consoles" because you're too cheap to upgrade? If NVIDIA had drug their heels with SLI/7-series, the contents of my rig may just as well be two ATI cards in CrossFire, but my money goes to where I can get what I want. Don't paint me with your fanboy brush. I was interested enough in CrossFire that I drove an hour out of my way in Atlanta traffic to check out a CrossFire demo this past summer at Monarch Computer. I didn't even get to play with the rig, but just watch a demo and talk to the Sapphire rep.

where have you been? . . . there are plenty

Nice link to all those pieces of info about R580 being right around the corner.

from a thread that you made yesterday:

Vendors tell us R580 is some ways away, so don't expect anything between now and CeBit

CeBit is March 9-15... 5 months is not exactly "around the corner" IMO...

what do you mean? x1800xt is available

ummm... yeah...

That the picture people keep posting in this very thread of the X1800XT box is from an ordinary person on AT forums that got their 512MB X1800XT.

and heres the thread its from http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=31&threadid=1728140&enterthread=y

on the box there it has crossfire sticker, and says crossfire ready board in this box.

or is that the crossfire editions will only have 256mb? if so....would pairing a 512mb card with a 256mb crossfire card work?

That is the concern. It's not that there aren't going to be any 512MB master cards necessarily, but that no one has been able to locate any information about the 512MB master cards when there is info about 256MB master cards. I would think that would be cause for concern if you were in the market for a $600 X1800XT at the moment and you were considering running it in CrossFire. That is the issue... I think Rollo probably jumped the gun a bit in claiming that Crossfire was to only be 256MB.

That link on X-Bit labs says their "offering 256MB cards", so maybe the 512MB cards in Crossfire will come later on. I wouldn't call this thread "ONLY 256MB" because on the X1800XT 512MB box, it states that this card is "Multi-GPU Ready"

Well, I guess you have to hand it to ATi for SLI consistency if nothing else...

The RAGE FURY MAXX (or whatever it called itself) was pure unadulterated crap that took forever to fix and then wouldn't run on the new mainstream OS of the day, never mind that by that time there were faster single card solutions on the market.

Backfire V1.0 was/is flawed at hires and is so late to market that it is irrelevant to almost everyone (rabid fanboi's excepted).

Backfire V2.0 fixes alot of V1.0's flaws, but by the time you can SLI 2 512mb cards R580 will be here and neither users or ATi will want anything more to do with R520.

Yeah, we all get that... The point is that while you're waiting for your 512MB master card, every single 7-series SLI rig is burying your's in every game/benchmark. Is that really what you want when you shell out upwards of $600 for a video card and $200 on a motherboard?

Rollo, can you see exactly what a fanboy you look like by dredging up every single piece of negative press/info you can find on ATI and posting it here?

You're high point was perhaps trying to link to the ATI driver issues page, now i found that extremely amusing, but this is generally getting beyond a joke...we know you don't like ATI ok? Then you try and justify your fanboyism by saying you are doing everyone a service by pointing this stuff out (like we couldn't find that out from reputable, and somewhat less biased reviews, like at AT for example :p ), then chuck hissy fits like you did over my nvidia farcry shadows thread (that ati/sacrifice issue where you turned out to be completely wrong but hadn't even bothered checking) when someone actually points out problems with nvidia cards/drivers...

fair and balanced my backside, if you or anyone else actually believes that in the face of continued evidence to the contrary i worry for them ;)

Now i'm sure you'll go squawking to FI about a personal attack and breach of the tos, but nothing in it isn't true...i throw no insults other than to call you out as a fanboy, and ask you to stop doing this...or at least try and rein in your contempt for ATI ;)

EDIT:looks like you've done it again reading the post by the guy below me :p

If you look at the major xbit news article but below the crossfire one your quoting it says
the RADEON X1800 XT 512MB graphics cards with shipments scheduled for early November. ATI RADEON X1800 XT-based graphics cards with 256MB of memory at press time were expected to arrive in November, but some stores listed the 28th as the arrival date. All the RADEON X1800 XT graphics cards featured price-tags beyond recommended levels.
Source

Now look here
This link shows both 256 and 512MB versions of the X1800XT will be available, since there will be both it would make sense to make both 256 and 512MB crossfire cards.

Upon confirmation there will be a 512MB card I'd be happy to edit Apoppin'?

You have to admit it's strange:

You can buy two different 512MB X1800 card, no news of a 512MB Crossfire Master card.

You can't buy a 256MB X1800, we get news of a 256MB X1800 Crossfire Master card.

I'm wondering if the 512s are somehow ill suited to Crossfire, like maybe too big or too loud in tandem?

Who runs this forum? this guy is a joke. He is a disgrace to any community out there. Do you even know what goes into making a crossfire card? probably not as you would already have known that it is a single, yes single chip added to make it the master card. Anyways I am done with this forum, the amount of Bullshit that goes on in here is amazing.

Does speculation about video cards often enrage you?
