Initially we were referring to the link in the OPs post and both of us criticized it for using a special ATi overclocking tool that nobody else has access to besides ATi's marketing overclockers. Then Morph posted a link to this: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=77157 bragging about the 1 ghz barrier being broken and that is where the LN2 comments came into play.

It's called baiting, Duvie. And according to the sticky very prominently displayed at the top of the Video Forums:

Recently, we have had far too much flaming, trolling, baiting, and personal attacks in far too many threads on this forum. Such behavior only gets in the way of meaningful discussions and detracts from the value of our forums, and it will not be tolerated.

Some people are here to actually discuss the thread topic, not to watch 5150Joker and Rollo trade sarcastic comments back and forth.

One man's "baiting" is another man's "discussing" Creig. If I have a more colorful style of speaking/writing than "I find this to be a dubious achievement because the cards, tools, and support used are unavailable to the average video card consumer." I would think you would thank me for not making you remember any personality-less person you've ever had to endure.

Don't take this the wrong way Creig, Rollo et al... If you are gonna call rules into use at least follow them yourselves. X complains that Y is baiting yet you go into another thread and it's Y baiting X. Just get your handbags out and takes 12 paces away from each other then draw.

Perhaps. But in overall sheer volume, there are a couple people who stand head and shoulders above the rest of the crowd. And it's their continued disregard of the Forum Rules that is egging others to either retaliate the baiting/thread crapping or to post in a similiar manner because they see no consequences being taken against those few who continue to create post after post that violate Moderator's specified etiquette.

Yea, i'm sometimes rather abrasive but that's just how I post. I'm pretty sure 99% of people chuckle at Rollo's statements and probably a few that chuckle at yours too. But let's face the hard facts here:

99% of people won't use LN2, hardly any of those will use water cooling, less than 1% has access to the Tool that ATI is providing to overclock the cards (which are currently unavailable) and it's possible (not definite) those cards are cherry picked. We don't know what nVidia or ATI get up to most of the time and what little we do know always gets blown out of proportion bytheir respective groupies.

On Topic though...

I currently use a 7800GT and will be looking at all the cards available when the G72/73 are available before choosing the card I want to use. I'm a fan of neither but a critic of both, just in differing ways. perhaps a 7800U (for example) can hit 1GHz Core & Memory with LN2 but we won't know until it appears (if it does). Single card scores interest me now but in 5-6 months i'll be more interested in game compatability with SLI or Crossfire than which card has higher 3DMark scores. If ATI get my next purchase i'd be looking to DFI to rectify the rather poor features on their Crossfire board before doing so. Just another aspect of the battle between the 2 villains.
