x1800xt, best price to performance for high end???

The 7800GTX 512 is about as available as the x800xt pe or 6800 Ultra from the past thus their street price is in the $700 - $749 range, that's to say if you can even find one.

The 7800GTX 256 is a great buy at $450 but if you want the OC'd cards you're looking at the $499+

The x1800xt can now be found for $499 to $550 and in stock and it easily justify's the extra $50 for the performance it offers over the 7800GTX 256 in DX games. Unless you are a big Sli fan, the x1800xt is definitely worth a strong look when choosing you next high end hard.

It sure looks that way to me too. I'm a huge SLI fan, and when talking price-performance, 2 7800GTs in SLI is definitely at the top. But that only works for those who already have an SLI board and an above-average PSU. If you don't have those already, the XT is definitely the runner-up for best high-end performance for the upper-end price bracket.

One of the huge benefits the SLI GTs have over the XT is that they've been out a while and can now be found used in the $275 range on FS/FT. That's +512GTX performance for only $550. A great buy for those that don't mind the extra noise, power consumption, and heat a dual card solution brings with it. If you do mind, the XT seems to be a perfect fit.

Just kidding. I think it is a better value to get 1800 if they are same price with 7800gtx. But it certainly doesn't offer $50 more value though. I still need to see how the video transcoding stuff goes to better judge the added value.

Ive agree if its compared to the gtx however if you compare 2x7800gt's which can be found for about $550AR nowadays(sometimes even cheaper)is a way better price/performance ratio. That is if you have the mobo and enough wattage to support them. All ATi needs to do is drop the msrp on the x1800xl and gets crossfire boards out then it would be a very competitive market.

256 GTX are selling cheap in the used market perhaps but using the anandtech pricing engine $449 was cheapest I found for a new card. $499 was the cheapest for a new x1800xt.

The 7800GTX 512 is certainly not worth it's $750 price tag. If it was for $599 and had good availability, I'd definately snatch one up though.

Which vendor has the 1800xt for 499? At newegg.com, the price diff. is more like 90 or so between the gtx and the xt.

On the High End the GT is the bang for buck king. And at a simular Price of the XT 2 of them is much better then the XT. Of the GTX and XT, the XT is starting to look like a better buy for single cards, bu for SLI (crossfire) its still a no show for a Master card.

Best price/performance for high-end (7800/X1800 and up)? Nothing matches the 7800GT in that category in my mind. Unless by high-end you mean 7800GTX and X1800XT cards only? Not worth the price over the 7800GT IMO though. I forget which one (7800 512 or X1800 512) ended up being faster, but I think the X1800 offered more price per performance (maybe...)

Nice price if the warrenty on bulk cards is at least one year. It's become a tough decision between an XT and a GTX if the price diff. is only $50.

$485 for the XT, I think I'd go for the ATI card... It's still expensive, but that is a nice deal on that card.

Nuff said.....GT all the way when you overclock it, at that point it basically ties a GTX, and would probably stay within 5-10% of a X1800XT and to be honest I think if it runs smoothly on the res and AA/AF settings that I use....then thats all that matters to me
