At overclockers their cheapest X1800XT is at £314.95 w/o VAT and the cheapest 7800GTX is £289.95 w/o VAT.

And the X1800XT is at the same or lower price than all the factory OCed GTX while all the 512s are more than a 100 pounds more expensive EEK!

Its looking good for the price wars!

(And yes i do know its not in stock, but the others are which are more expensive. You can guess why its not in stock, because of that price i bet they sold evey single one)

I keep hoping we're gonna see the X1800XT fall into the $450 range so that we can FINALLY see a significant price slash on the GTX

I pre-ordered a Club3D X1800XT 512MB for about ?490 ($580) in early Nov. here in Germany....
GTX starts at about ?440 ($520), GTX 512MB at ?650 ($765)
Average price for ATIs 512MB X1800XT is about ?550 ($650)
(all prices incl. 16% VAT)

Edited to X1800XL (Inquirer had a typo in their article).

You can get a X1800XL for only $325:

CONNECT 3D is miraculously the cheapest X1800XT that you can get in the states, at least that we are aware off. ATI is finally decided to drop its prices to give 7800 GT to run for its money.

The card still costs some $16 more than XFX branded Nvidia 7800 GT offering and with Nvidia box you will get a nice box and two games while Connect 3D will give you an OEM card for the bucks.

Avivo is bringing a new perspective on the X1800XL and with the right price it will definitely make Nvidia to run for its money. The only problem of such low prices will affect 6800 GS sales and will get it to $199 range quite soon.

This will be indeed a nice Yule shopping season as you will get loads of different things to chose from.

Good catch, looks like Inquirer made a mistake in the article, althought the title itself was correct.
