I have a x1800xt 512mb and I want to replace it with a 1950 pro sapphire ultimate.
My plan is to sell the x1800xt and use that money for a x1950 pro. Question is would it really be worth while? I do want to keep heat and noise down while maintaining good performance. I also don't see many benchmarks comparing a x1950 pro to a x1800xt 512mb. Any1 can shed some light here? thanks

X1800XT 512MB can beat up 7900GT so X1950pro and X1800XT 512MB are about the same performance , i would say X1800XT 512MB would preform better. Meaning that going X1800XT 512MB to X1950pro would be stupid ;(

Why not just change cooler? grab yourself a accelro or zalman vf900 or even better, a thermalright v-1 ultra etc.

if the performance difference is not dramatic then i dont really mind the change. I hate the x1800xt for its heat, noise and power. Then I another question, how much can I sell my x1800xt 512mb for?

X1950pro will be not great of an upgrade really. Your losing more TMUs and ROPs while gaining for pixel shaders therefore losing performance in some games while gaining in others.

Its rather a side upgrade.

Heat and power, yes. But noise? My X1800XT is the quietest actively cooled video card I have ever used; it is only loud during system startup.

x1800xt vs x1950pro.

This seems like more of a sidegrade than anything. If I were to sell the x1800xt I'd shell out more money for a 8800GTS (and get a nice boost in performance) or an XFX 7950GT (passive cooler) if noise really bothers you.

Have same card. Either looking to pick up another for Crossfire, or sell it. Preferably sell it, so if anyone is interested like the guy above, I also have one.

BTW: I would just go for a better cooler if you really just want to keep the same performance, or sell it and upgrade. There have been some pretty good 8800GTS deals lately.
