Hi everyone,

I just built a new rig and I'm having some issues with the quality of BF2.

ASUS A8N-E Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 (latest drivers, bios)
GECUBE RX1900XT-512M PCIE Radeon X1900XT 512MB GDDR3 (latest drivers)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Manchester 1GHz HT Socket 939 Dual Core
2GB RAM
Antec NEO 550W PS
Blah, blah, blah........

The issue I am having is with the quality. I see jagged edges. I have every single video setting in BF2 MAXED. On my video card, I have disabled 'application controlled' for the following settings and set them too:

Anisotrophic Filtering: 16x
Anti-Aliasing: 4x

My GPU temp on load is about 70c
My CPU temp on load is about 43c

What am I missing?

I also have Flight Simulator 2004 installed with all settings MAXED and the graphix look pretty good, but they should be AWESOME, like BF2 should be. Wouldn't you agree?

I play with a game rez of, 1280 x 1024

So again, what am I missing?

Thanks,

M

Don't have bf2, but in most new games you are better off to leave it at application controlled and adjust the in game settings.

I would also suggest enabling Adaptive AA and High Quality AF in the ATI CCC. I noticed a nice improvement in IQ, however you will lose roughly 15fps~ or so. To be it was well worth the IQ improvement, but you might disagree. I would suggest giving it a try and reporting back.

This is a common complaint. The truth is, when enabled, Catalyst AI will turn of AA for BF2 and certain other games.

I'm having other problems with CCC, but in this case, AI is supposed to turn it off. Disable CAT AI.

Enabling hgh quality AF is a must for IQ. As far as concerns adaptive AA it would be wise to use it in games where alpha textures exist, otherwise it will be a meaningless use and drop in performance.. Aplha textures are those in wires, grass, hedges where developers use alpha test textures instead of aplha blends..

I enabled AA to 4x, FSAA to 16X and then there's another setting in the ATI CCC called "Standard Settings", I set that to "optimal quality".

I've noticed a huge difference, but still some jagged edges, and I'm beginning to think that other poster was right about that's just how the game is built.

On another note:
HOLY CRAP: 3DMK06 9046

I scored 5426

dont use the standard settings, because they mess with 3D, just go down and change 3D manually
