What's the max temperature that is safe for the voltage regulators on an X1800XL??

While testing the overclock (with higher voltage) I saw the voltage regulator temps. hit 80degrees celcius, while the core stayed under 75 degrees celcius and this is with the stock cooler.

So is this safe or should I back off. Even at stock the VRegs went to around 75 degrees celcius.

Well,im running an x1600xt, and from waht i understand the temperatures they run are very similar. Mine idles at 58C and and hits 80C under load. Before i added more case fans it idoled at 68C and hit 101C while gaming. From what ive researched anything under 105C is considered safe.anything over may hurt it.

You should be ok up to 80C on the vReg area. Of course, on my X1900XT my voltage regulators don't break 70C anymore (see Project Log link in sig and look for the newest one), even when overclocked to 725/825.

Thanks for the links mate. That's a nice mod there. I'm thinking of making a custom water cooler for the PWMs once I get the water cooling setup ready.

But thanks for the info on the temperatures. I just needed to make sure I was within a safe range.
