Which one would you take?
I would be playing at 1280x1024 with MAX IQ settings and the rest of the comp would be what is shown in the sig.

I know, I know I could get the X1900XT also but that isn't an option right now.

Both cards are used and from someone i trust.

exactly what price are you talking about? Afterall $100 v $200 is far removed from $400 v. $500.

for $300 cdn, X1800XT is a steal. X1800XL isn't a great step up from X850Xt you already have imo.

But you should decide based on the games you play if it is worth it for you or not:

Start Review Here

Also consider that when games become more demanding, X1800XT will pull away from X1800XL. If anything you should get the X1800XT sell it now for $450 US on Ebay, and buy a $280 7800GT.

Why do you think I should sell the X1800XT and buy a 7800GT? I'm guessing you mean for the profit? I figure getting the X1800XT is a pretty good deal right now. And in reviews the X1800XT seems to do a lot better than the X1800XL.

What do you think the resale value would be in about 3 months for either card?

If you plan on OC'ing then it may be worth to get the XL. But from the benches I've seen, in most cases the XT gets the same fps at 16x12 as the XL gets at 12x10, so if you're just gonna keep the cards at stock settings, I'd get the XT.

My reasoning was this: 7800GT for $270-280 is good enough to handle most games at 1280x1024 4AA/16AF (besides COD2 and FEAR). Say you can buy X1800XT for $300 cdn (or about $265 US), you can sell it for $400 US. Get 7800GT for $280. You put $120 in your pocket. Then once G80/R600 come out, your 7800GT should last for about 8-10 months easily. You could sell it for $180 and take the $120 you saved and I am sure you could pick up X1900XT for $300 by then or G71 even. However, if you want a card that lasts and don't want to play the selling game, get X1800XT since it'll be faster than X1800XL and the extra $100 is worth it imo. In Canada, these puppies are selling for $650 before tax.
