This could be true.

Theoretically supply/demand will set the price, and a X1800XT priced at 256 7800GTX levels would give it some competition.

^ they reported having 15 and having sold 12.

They also said they expected more shipments this week?

I hope this is not reminiscent of the X800XTPE availability. Too early to tell at this point though.

I pre-ordered mine (512 MB version) last week, and my local store called me today.

They told me they received confirmation of the arrival of their first copies next week, probably Thursday.

The seller asked me if I still wanted to buy it, so he could get the "right number" (as he said words by words), and "not too much". Priced at $865.00 (Canadian), taxes included. Their web-site is www.cipc-info.com, and the GPU itself is listed (they added it last week actually).

But the seller (as I asked him) replied with something interesting ...

I asked him if he would receive the 256 MB version of the XT's, and he told me that he wouldn't receive them probably not until mid December !

I think ATi really wants to sell the 512 MB version first. Anyone else noticed that ?

And I'm still wondering if that "November 7th XT price drop" is actually going to happen.

Not really. Some people have the money and are willing to spend it, like me at work. Others, like me at home, just sit back and watch the competition drive the prices down to a level where I can afford it. :)

It really doenst matter if you believe it or not, the did. In fact, a few people have posted pics of the card and box on other forums. Looks like your comments about them not being avail till Dec. were wrong.

Let's see some real quantities and at more shops before turning on the flamethrowers.

ya, and i call it no fair :/. First the advertise for new products thru every channel, those hardware newssites, what they do is making money with writing about advertising plus infotainment (60% of a "news" basically is advertise, rumors and stupid catchwords and crappy explanations about "how it works" 30%, and background knowledge is under 10%, same goes for reviews, most of the time reading a review on a certain piece of hardware iam trying desperately to find the one or two interesting sentences, that will enlighten me at least a bit.) well, and finally u know all the pros and cons and that u need to have one of the brand new parts.
But when it comes to payment it turns out the whole ad and news and forum talk are nice and cool, but nope sir, ur not the person they were looking for in the shops. What they are looking for is someone who likes to pay ridiculous prices. So why is there ad for stuff that not everybody can afford? no fukcin fair. goin to invent the ST replicator imediately!!11one
