yeah I see your time starting to get more limited around here...

going offtopic yet again and now insulting both ArchAngel777 and I by calling us "girls"...

regardless of heated debates back 2 weeks ago since the new sticky went up I have been non confrontational.....I suggest you do the same....

You guys always gang up, same people, bashing some members, same companies etc. even bashing lurkers until they go back to lurking.

I'm sure there are numerous examples where you did that AFTER the sticky was posted.

Too offtopic, topic was proven wrong and dead anyway.

I'm not talking about turtle.

Just to point this out... its funny when Duvie simply said a troll, that the first person to come to mind was turtle.

SLI doesn't require a 500Watt PSU with a nicely equipped system. I would run SLIed 7800GTX's on a Seasonic (or comparable Antec TPII, OCZ) 420Watt. Now if we start going into things like 2gig of RAM, like 10HDD's, and what not, then yeah it is going to need that much.

Much as I'd love for the rumor to be true, I think people should remember the wild claims being made about how much power a single G70 card would require and how accurate they turned out to be...

Why would you want the rumor to be true? How is high power consumption a GOOD thing?

Because he prefers nVidia. He makes no effort to hide it. I do not see a problem with that, since he is up front about it.

Edit ** He may own stock in nVidia.
Actually, I hold no stock in nVidia.

I prefer advanced technology to tricked out old technology, which explains why I prefer nVidia to ATi (even through the nV3x period - the hardware may be been slower, but it was far more advanced) and why I prefer AMD to Intel (and why I did even when the k6 series was AMD's top processor - once again more advanced technology despite being slower).

Also, I very much prefer the way nVidia conducts itself compared to ATi and its supporters.

Last but certainly not least, most games are developed using nVidia based hardware and developers get most of their support from nVidia.

I wonder what would happen if I try running two 7800 GTX in SLI using the 350W generic PSU that came with my POWMAX case

People are wildly exagerating power demand, so I think it should be OK

No you are severely underestimating it. If possible come back, but ill garauntee you something is going to blow or you are going to fry the card with that POS PSU.

Anyone know from experience how the 6800 Ultra is (AGP) on power consumption? I should be getting mine in the mail soon, and I have a 420 watt generic (Raidmax, came with my case) PSU. I'm kind of worried it won't hold up, but does anyone know from experience, or a different article whether I'll be okay or not? I'm running an A64 3200 (Winchester) @ stock, 2 opticals, 1 HD and 2 80mm fans. If anyone knows, please lemme know!

Unless you would have rather flushed that money down the toilet invest in a nice PSU.

Additionally, why in the hell did you buy a 6800U. Horrible price performance. You could have gotten a 7800GT for that price, if not cheaper. I would return that card asap.

Got it for $300, and I have an AGP mobo... don't feel like shelling out $350 + $100 for a little performance boost when I can just get a 6800 ultra and a $50 PSU... plus, it's just plain hardcore!
