Does anyone know about any free software packages like X-windows that run on dial-up connection? I have been trying to run X-windows on dialup, but it is not responding. :(

man any of those programs would be so SLOW over dialup, i wouldn't even bother.

if you really want to, cygwin is the big open source (free) one.

wait... i'm confused, are you talking about running an X window server (linux) over dialup, or some program called X-Windows (for Windows)?

free X windows software comes with pretty much every free workstation oriented distro of linux known to man.

mandrake, redhat, slackware, debian, suse, knoppix ... etc
