X-PopBeforeSMTPSenders

I currently use mozilla for my pop/smtp email. The server that i use for pop/smtp is the server that hosts my website, which is surpasshosting (gonna move from it later)

Anyways, yesterday i sent out an email and it bounced out. And then i noticed something i've never seen before in the email header:

X-PopBeforeSMTPSenders: (here goes list of all my POP email addresses)

from the search i did for X-PopBeforeSMTPSenders, it seems like this field is included by the webserver, not by mozilla. However, i really do not like my POP email address being published like that.

I know not everyone will look at my full email header, but it will be annoying if my email addresses end up in spammers' database.

So anyways, my question is: is there a way to ask mozilla to not include that field as part of the header? Like, a filter or configuration or anything at all? Or is there a way to change the value to something like ... donotspamme@whatever?

Or am i basically out of luck and have to live with it all my life?

Thanks all.

So, this header gets added as it passes through the provider's smtp server? If that's the case then it's already out of your hands by then. Have you confirmed that it gets added to emails that do arrive succesfully?

I wonder what the point of the header was at all?

You said yourself it's not added by Mozilla, that means Mozilla gives the SMTP server a 'normal' mail message without that header and the SMTP server adds it in later in the process for some reason so unless you can add some custom egress filters on the mail server you're out of luck.

Yah, unfortunately it seems like it's not something i can do ...

seems like the only way of taking it out would be to ask the server admin to take it out..
I've just sent them an email, and hopefully it's something that they can take out.. -(

I was just hoping there's a way not to have the POP email list sent to the server... I guess i was just looking for an easy way out of the problem -(

From the name of the header I would guess it's not, I would guess that they're using it in some way for relay authentication.

i guess i'll have to live with this until i move to a different host or whatever -(
here's their response to my email... oh well.....
damn spammers .. making my life hard >(

The option X-PopBeforeSMTPSenders was enabled by us inorder to track
the spammers residing in the server .

We are getting a lots of complaints regarding spams originating from
this server and we were forced to enable this option .
This option will list all the mail addresses from which a pop
session is opened for that domain .

That is when you try to send mails from your account , it will list
those mail accounts for which a pop session is enabled at your end .
so in your email client just send and receive the mails for each
accounts seperately instead of using the option "receive all " to get
rid of this problem .
