I saw it at the Ziegfeld last night. Kevin Bacon and Michael Fassbender were there.

Go see it, tons of fun and great action. Cool story; but the canon/mythos is altered a bit. The X-Men are pretty much just backgrounds and backdrops; the entire movie is dominated by Sebastain Shaw and Erik Lehnsherr. The level of villainous awesomeness spills over, melts your face and body – leaving you as a boiling pile of flesh and bones.

Also, two uber-GODLY cameos are made.

Hmm, I wasn't expecting it to be any good. The trailers actually made it look absolutely horrible and boring. Now I have to rethink seeing it...

OP, please tell me you didn't like X-Men 3.

I actually think the trailers make it look awesome.

When first class hits the local theater my wife and I are going to go see it.

I just hope its like the new marvel movies, and not like the first ones made by 20th century fox

X-men 3 was not the best of the series. but i did enjoy it.

I will go see this when it hits. BUT i am a huge fan of the X-men comic (have roughly 80% of them).

also its a damn action movie. it don't take a lot to satisfy me on them heh.

what was wrong with X-men 3? i thought it was the best of the series

X-3 was crap.

20th century fox killed off the best characters so that Marvel studios could not continue to make x-men movies.

Everyone knew that Marvel was opening their own production studios, so 20th century made a preemptive strike so that Marvel could not move forward wit any more x-men movies.

I'm not a follower of the comics (especially the beginning ones) but something about the previews for this movie just don't interest me. It's like a live version of a Saturday morning cartoon (which is fine since I grew up watching the Fox version of the X-Men cartoons on Saturdays). But I guess I like the slightly more dark(?) feel of the prior three movies.

Can't really describe it. Something just looks...off...in the previews.

It's a different director & doesn't have anything to do with X-3. I was only asking to see whether the OP had any taste or not :p

I thought it was a TV show at 1st. The latest trailers did ramp it up a bit (the one I saw at Thor). But it is really worth going to see it.

I can pick on a few more things I did not like (Hank McCoy was underplayed) - but overall, great movie.

X-Men 3 was an abomination - as was the Wolverine movie.

1st Class has redeemed the X-Men movie franchise.

The costumes are a bit outdated which is probably why.

It's a different director

Its not just a different director, its a whole other production studio.

First Class was produced by Marvel Studios.

The other x-men movies was produced by 20th century fox.

One of the reasons why Marvel opened their own production studio, was so that marvel would have creative control over the movies, and so that the movies would hold true to the comic books.

Huh, I didn't know that Marvel regained the rights from Fox. That's good news

Which is good, if they'd only stay true to the comics themselves which I guess they don't. I never followed comics myself so I can't say, but I do know a few friends are peeved at this movie in particular because they screwed up the Magneto origin.

Yup, Magneto is kind of a big deal. Pissed me off too.

Marvel changes the movies to match the current events and changing of times.

Iron Man for example, was in vietnam in the 1960s. Well, todays conflict is in the middle east. If Marvel would have stayed "true" to the comic book, most people would not understand what was going on.

I have not really cared for the 3 xmen movies, and how well they tied in with the Marvel universe. Where was beast for the first 2 movies? Why was nightcrawler only in the second movie?

My wife and I are going to go see First Class, I just hope its better then the others.

What specifically is wrong with what they did that you know of? You can spoiler tag it if you want for others, but I personally don't care as I'm not sure I'll see this one any time soon. My friend mentioned something like the trailers show him in X-men gear when he NEVER was part of them... and it's a "travesty" that they have him be a part of that.
