Installation of drivers kept making my system freeze. After about 5 installations, I got the drivers installed. While running the calibration program, I'd hear "Front Lef...*bleepLOUDNOISEbliaBEEPhsdflkfaQ@!!1!*" I rebooted and windows wouldn't load. Reformatted my computer, and now it isn't detected.

Any advice or suggestions would be great.

Move it around different PCI slots. If it's still not detected, it's dead Jim.

Try reseating the card?

Fully patch the OS?

Upgrade to the latest version of DirectX?

Install OpenAL?

Disable the onboard audio?

Mine installed fine on a Uli 1695 chipset, ASROCK Dual.

EDIT: My neighbors are complaining even when I have the sub off.

Tried different slots.

OS is patched.

Direct X 9.0c installed.

Open AL installed.

Disabled onboard audio.

Email Creative support. There's a weird compatibility issue with the X-FI and some NF4 motherboards. It can only be corrected by a BIOS update from the MB manufacturer or as a last resort, a firmware work-around from Creative is available, but you have to ask for it first. This is documented the Creative support forums.

Just checked the boards. There's suppose to be a beta BIOS for your MB that many users with X-FIs have had success with. You might want to check it out.

Thanks a lot for the help, I'm checking as we type.

I swapped to my first of 3 pci ports and it detected it under 4 bit colored windows.. which was a result of my video card IRQ issue.. i restarted and now windows is in full color, but doesnt detect the card anymore.... wtf

I like the BIOS idea, have you tried that already? Also maybe contact creative, or if you can, try the card in a different system and see what happens.

Nice to see that Creative is still only testing their soundcards with intel chipset motherboards.

dunno, many people with nForce4 boards do not have this on the other hand.
Creative has a procedure in place, I have seen some posting mentioned their knowledge base had some instruction on that.
Let me check

EDIT:

Found it! Their knowledgebase runs some dodgy scripts so I cannot post a valid link, lamesh**!!!,
I copy-pasted article below:

Solution ID # 8804
X-Fi Installation Difficulties
Some computers may exhibit one or more of the following symptoms while attempting to install a Creative X-Fi sound card:

System will either freeze or not boot
System will say there are multiple unknown PCI Devices and then cause the system to generate a blue screen error.
System may reboot repeatedly depending on XP settings.
Error: The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor... ( STOP: 0x000000A5 )

These symptoms may be corrected with an updated BIOS from the motherboard manufacturer. To update the BIOS for your motherboard, please contact your motherboard vendor. If an updated BIOS is not available for your specific motherboard, please contact Customer Support for further assistance. When contacting Customer Support, please have your motherboard model and BIOS version available to give to the Customer Support advisor.

why BETA? What was your version before you upgraded? Cos you should not have problems with ver. 1007 I believe. There is release version 1014...
I replied in detail in the other thread you made, good luck with your struggle anyway 😉
