I have just bought a X-fi Xtreme Audio, My old X-fi Xtreme Music died with my 3870 X2 as a result of a mod gone wrong...

I also bought a new sony home decoder which comes with a full 5.1 speaker system. The prob. is that when i had connected the both via analog. i could go till 96Khz and my sony decoder would decode the audio to 5.1 but not that i bought new SPDI/F cables my sony decoder goes to 2.0 when i switch to 96Khz?? At 48Khz the sony hardware decode's the single as 5.1??

This is true for my Chaintech AV-710 as well, it seems like resampling results in PCM output only. You have to stay at 48KHz which is the native AC3/DTS sampling frequency for surround sound.
