The X-Fi ExtremeMusic is still going to be better than any of the current Audigy 2's right? Or would like an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum whatever be more powerful?

Trust me i went to quakecon and they had this card for demos and in some computer you could play. ITS rocks you can hear the difference right away it wonderful I could have gotten the fata1lty version at quakecon for 200.They are only going to sell this card at the begin in bestbuy that would be the only place no online retailers. They said its was 24 time better than the AudigyZ .IT makes your headphone sound like 5.1 surround and its sounds better cause it has the cystalizer 24 bits and as well any compress thing such as movies song ect it uncomprees them and makes it sound like it should get it its awesome

Well I have a DFI mobo so it has that Kajin audio module, which is more of a hardware solution.. It keeps CPU usage at a minimum.

Do you have to keep repeating yourself? It's bad enough that you don't fully make sense, but the repetitiveness is quite annoying.

ok i think we get the picture...

we all know that our audigy or onboard sound isn't as good as the X-Fi will be, but we are willing to accept that...

I said that I'll stick with my onboard sound... You then said that the onboard sound will take up CPU usage, and that a true gamer won't let those frames go to waste... I then responded that My onboard sound takes MINIMal CPU usage...

to be fair the new x-fi has nice near features you can't get on onboard audio. the headphone surround fx look interesting, and so does the sound quality enhancement for audio from cds and such.

Creative just had a promotion where you could preorder an X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS for $199. It's over now, so I guess it doesn't matter much, but for those of us that got in on it, it was pretty good deal. If it bombs in reviews, which isn't likely, can always cancel the order.

I was also at Quakecon 2005 and checked out the XiFi. Truthfully, no big whoop. Sure it is a nice improvement, but we are still talking about sound cards. I mean quit with the true gamer crap as well. A "true gamer" wouldnt use measely headphones if he didnt have to (ala LAN parties). Tell that to my DTS - THX Yamaha 7.1 Amp and Sony ES Loudspeakers. The XiFi is not the end all to every other sound card. Stop buying into corporate propaganda. A measely couple of FPS? That's what FX-57's and 7800GTX's are for. Will the sound card be better? For some. Will it be better than everything out so far? That is subjective to everyone's situation. Surround sound on headphones does not a awesome sound card make it. (yes I know it has other improvements, but give me a break...)

I still say it looks like a bunch of marketing BS and hype.
