Hey all, i have a Creative X-fi Gamer (PCI) on my Gigabyte 970A UD3 (AM3+), and everytime i restart or shutdown my computer my X-Fi disappears and i can't use it. I have to reinstall the drivers to get it functional again, but once i restart or shut down the same thing happens!:(

I've tried disabling all other audio devices to ensure nothing is conflicting with it. i have a G-35 logitech headset and HDMI audio on my 5870 and both are disabled, but it still happens. I re-installed Win7, but same thing happens. It just disappears from "playback devices" in my sound tab. Sometimes it stays when i restart, but 8/10 times it just disappears.:(

anyone encounter this issue or know a work around?

Yep its disabled too. I used driver cleaner.net to completely uninstall the drivers, & then installed some newer, user created drivers that i found, not the official Creative drivers, & i've restarted 5 times & win7 detected the sound card every time now! Not sure if this is temporary but lets wait & see. Really lame when user created drivers are BETTER than Creative's drivers. But again i'll hafta wait & see....

i guess it's a bit late to ask, but when you open the creative audio control panel and switch modes (entertainment/game/audio) does it fix the problem?
it sounds like your creative drivers were corrupt, and you needed to download any new drivers :S

downloading and reinstalling creative's drivers worked for me when i had that problem, so it doesn't necessarily mean the user drivers are better (though creative's drivers seem to corrupt easier than most for some reason)

When i tried to open the control panel it'd tell no card could be detected, so it wasnt an option. I tried both PCI slots & same result. Never considered that it might be corrupted drivers, ill try that if the same thing happens, but so far so good with these drivers.:)

*SIGH* well after a few working restarts i still got the same problem, sound card becomes undetectable and its the same problem all over (using 2.5 Daniel Ks pack). I don't get it, i have all other audio devices disabled or disconnected, and i still get this problem. I hafta reinstall the drivers & restart to get the sound card detectable. This is on a clean install too!!!! it's obviously a software issue, but i just can't figure it out!:(

well, even with the 3rd party drivers i STILL get the same problem. The sound card still goes undetected after a few restarts.:( then it remains undetected until i install the drivers again. I just dont understand it, maybe its the mobo? The PCI slot is flaky? i redownloaded the Creative drivers cause maybe mine were corrupted, but nope, same thing. If i use Driver cleaner to completely remove the drivers it works for like 5-7 restarts (which is better than 1-2 restarts), but it still eventually goes undetected (albeit it can handle more restarts before that happens). Because of this im pretty suree its a software issue, or maybe a flaky mobo?

I just dont get it.:( Any other ideas?

Hey. Did you ever get this problem fixed?
I have an older MoBo with the Nvidia 680i Chipset and this Sound Card has worked fine on Win 7 for a year and a half, now I am having this same prob. It will work PERFECTLY when I reboot a few times and it does get detected, but most of the time now it won't work. Doesn't show up in Playback Devices. If I uninstall all Drivers and reboot, sometimes the drivers will reinstall automatically, or I have to do it myself, then it will work fine, so it can't be hardware.

Do you install your SSD around the time you had the prob? That's the only change I made recently.
