My X-Fi card sometimes puts out a high pitch squeal thought my headphones/speakers. I've tried switching pci slots. Any ideas?
Edit: Forgot to mention it locks up my system sometimes

It's performing it's Fatality move. "Skreeeeeeeeeeee SPLAT!"

Haha, j/k. Sounds like feedback perhaps. Do you have a microphone hooked up? If so mute it and see if it goes away. Also, I noticed on my onboard pos audio, that the line in was creating noise so I muted that in the advanced audio properties.

Its not feedback. Its not a constant noise. It sounds like a fire truck siren sometimes. Its amusing. Except when it locks up my system. :|
Edit: I can mute the mic and all inputs and it still happens

I dunno what the heck that could be. Maybe you're not getting enough juice to it? I'm looking at it from the system lock up angle. Check the voltages on your 5v and 12v rails in the bios. Make sure they're not dropping real low all of a sudden. Do you have a lot of peripherals running off the motherboard? Maybe the power supply isn't big enough? Check for bulging or popped caps on the mobo. Could cause a low power issue for anything drawing power off the motherboard pci bus. Is this a new card? Or one you've had for a while that has suddenly started having this issue?

Complete rig is in my sig. It has not changed since feb of this year. 550 Watt psu..should be enough. Here is a list of main parts
X2 4400
Asus A8N-Sli-Prem
2x1 GB Ram
2 x 250 GB WD
X-Fi Fatality
2 x Optical Drives
Floppy/Card Reader
Antec 550W TruePowerII
EVGA 7800 GT CO

AMCRambler: It has been happening for while. I think the card might be loose. The case I have uses a bar across all the pci slots, so I used a screw last night to secure the card.

GalvanizedYankee: I moved the card to diff pci slot last night and nothing jumped out at me. I'll take a closer look when I get home
