I was just wondering if anybody here is using this sound card, and if it is a great improvement over onboard sound?

I mainly want to use this with head phones.

If this would be a good set -up, could someone recommend me a good set of head phones to go with this card.....it will be used for gaming only.

Thanks guys.

I have it, and yes, it does give much better sound performance than the onboard card.

However, unless you really REALLY want the X-RAM (which probably makes a difference with a lower-end system, but didn't increase my framerates by much), just go with the Xtreme Music.

The X-FI cards, along with other performance sound cards, really work best if you have good speakers or headphones to match them. While I did notice a nice difference with my X-530s, I noticed an ever bigger difference between onboard and the card when I switched to my Z-5500s.

Yeah, get the XtremeMusic (not XtremeAudio btw) or the regular XtremeGamer and use the extra money saved to buy better headphones.

Do you know if you want open or closed headphones?
