I finally got around to installing my new X-fi Xtrememusic, but got quite a few errors while installing the software off the installation CD. So far, it has run perfectly in Windows Media Player. Looking in Event Viewer, I got this during install:
The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block.
I also got a separate error about some other read error. I checked Nero Scan Disc and apparently the following files are damaged on the CD:
Manual\Br_Port\Manual.chm
DirectX\dxnt.cab
DirectX\BDAXP.cab
CTShared\WinSys\Mfc42.dll
CTShared\WinSys\mfc42u.dll
How important are these files exactly? I checked google and some look necessary, but would they screw anything up?
Thanks a lot,
Imp
