X dies on "could not open font 'fixed', WTF?

could not open defualt font 'fixed'"


Anyone had this problem before? And how do I add my fixed font to X? Blah

I had this problem after I tried to install Xfree 4.02. Needless to say I didn't know how to fix it so I ended up reinstalling linux mandrake 7.2 again. Good luck finding the answer.

Did you do the truetype font thang? If so undo it, and that should fix your problem.

Actually the "xfs" service wasnt started, so I did "service xfs start" and that did it. Wierd.
