Paypal implemented some jacked up policies ever since their merger. Especially with the limit on credit card transfers which was the whole reason we joined (other than the free $10).

You can cancel your x.com account on a link from the FAQ page. I'm going to try to linkify for the first time

Cancel your X.com account

Hope this helps.

Some interesting (maybe) news. I just got off the phone with csr at x.com and was asking about paying someone for an auction. The rep said that she wasn't sure how to do it now that x.com isn't taking any new customers.

When the rats jump ship...

<< Elon Musk, founder and chief executive of X.com ... is preparing to step down from the helm, he told CNET News.com on Sunday. >>

<< This is the second time that the 29-year-old Musk has stepped down as CEO in favor of a more experienced leader. X.com tapped former Intuit chief Bill Harris last December to run the company. Musk returned when Harris resigned after only five months. >>

And f*ckedcompany.com in *June* gave x.com a score of 127

The terms of use states: 'Monthly Fee for NOW Accounts with balances below $100: $12.00 per month, not to exceed account balance ' I assume that means that if you have a zero balance they won't charge you the $12. Of course, I'm not sure what the benefits of keeping your account open are since they will probably start charging you for logging into your account, using their banner, eating grapes, drinking beer, having sex, watching tv...etc.

WTF! Now the money they credited for ONE of my missing deposits, HAS ITSELF GONE MISSING--- zip!---disappeared from my account into thin air.........! Not exactly what you'd call a policy change w/o notice.
This is crazy!

Thanks for the heads up. Two family members (including me) each had one account. The $50 total in sign-up bonuses were still in there, so we took the money out last week, and just cancelled them online (and printed every dated page of the process, including the one that said by clicking below you are no longer subject to the maintenance fee). Anyone who wants to close their account to avoid the maintenance fee should empty their x.com accounts and do so NOW, as that "maintenance fee" is going to hit like a ton of bricks on the first. Interesting how the fee is $12/month. Not $10. Not $8. See, if it is $12, all of those people who still have $20 in there will only have $8 after the fee, and will then NOT be able to get out ANYTHING from ATMs, which only dispense money in $10 increments. :) Somebody thought about that fee VERY carefully. Oh well. $50 is $50, and I'm glad to be done with them.

Count the postage too. They spent 33 cent of postage plus ... just to send you 1 cent. Is this supposed to be a joke?

Ahh, your right I forgot about the postage. The funny think is I never deposited any money in that account. I just signed up for the free $10.00 and closed it.

Thanks for the notes about the charges folks.
I just cancelled my account on the 29th and avoided the fees. I usually keep about 50.00 in there for impulsive hardware buys :)

Not any more....Next one down is my Paypal account.

yah, I agreed with everyone, PayPal is so easy to use that over 90% of people on E8ay uses them!!! I personal find it easy to use paypal because it makes everything faster. I hope they dont' screwed Paypal like they did to Xcom. My friend had $5000 locked up in Paypal a week ago and had to call and call for 3 days to get those money out because of some international CC frued issue. I am thinking of just using my ecount or PayPlace now... but then again, if I just use those everyone need to sign up again and lets just hope they those companies won't be like Xcom/paypal.
