X-box surround sound help

I've recently bought surround sound for my x-box, and i want to get it connected up to dolby digital 5.1 surround sound, and i've bought the advanced scart lead, but now found that i have no optical receiver on the dvd player. Just wondered if there were any types of "adapters" so that i don't have to go out and buy a new surround sound system.
