Very interesting read. I wish I can have Anand himself cross-examine this article with his opinion but then again I'm not paying the server bill.

My primary concern for the K8L is the memory sub-system.

"To all appearances, there won?t be data prefetching from the L2 cache into the L1 cache and there won?t be high-efficiency prefetch units in the K8L due to the peculiarities of its caching system. If the mentioned deficiencies of the caching subsystem of the K8 core are not eliminated in the K8L, the new processor won?t be able to show its full potential and will be less efficient than the Conroe."

Let's hope that AMDs "won't need brute force" caching stays true.

Good article. It's more than a bit beyond me, but even still, it looks very interesting.

That article is alittle old. I remember it a few weeks ago. But anyways.

I doubt anyone 'logical' would deny K8L is going to be a beast. How big of a beast is yet to be determined.

One things for sure, IF AMD can really put to use all of that memory bandwith, it could really turn out to be a Monster.

Only time will tell I guess.

Agreed. One thing the K8 has going for it is memory bandwidth but the actual CPU has a bottleneck using it. But at least It will help people understand the K8L won't be 4 K8's slapped together.
