Anyone with a decent amount of experience with OS X (i.e. n0c =)), do you use any X programs on OS X, if so what form of X do you use? XDarwin or XTools (are there more?).

A friend recently got a G4 (933, DVD-RW, really nice machine) and wanted to run some X apps on it, I found fink (dselect on OS X is badass) and installed the apps but I really don't like how XDarwin works, wanted something a little more seamless especially since he's not a unix guy (yet).

Send it to me, I will have to do some custom stuff personally :D

Ok, maybe not. I use the XFree86 4.2.0 release from: http://www.osxgnu.org/

I have it run in rootless mode so its basically an application on my desktop. Nothing special. But I havent really played with any X programs yet, been too lazy (even with dselect).

Ah, it's annoying because you have to run a wm on top of OS X's GUI.

XTools seems to handle this more gracefully, but it's ~$200.

I just use the default wm. Its basically transparent (ie rootless) and pops up a couple of xterms. Not too tough. I read a review of XTools in one of the Mac magazines, and they basically said with XF86 out for Mac OS X there wasnt much point in getting it.
