WXP won't let me manually update drivers...HELP!!

Ok so i uninstall the old video card driver, reboot and am ready to install the newer one when wxp says it found new hardware and automatically starts installing some drivers (god knows what version).

I'm about to try and install the newer ones over these but isn't there a way to make wxp stfu and let me do the whole driver thing?

have you tried updating the driver from device manager??

Try what batilus have said, or uses add/remove hardware.
