i just formatted my rig less than 2 weeks ago so i'm being really cautious for now cause it would suck to have to do it again...

i want to install ubuntu linux and get a dual-boot going... i have an Athlon64 2800+ so i was wondering if there will be no problems installing the AMD64 version of ubuntu...

thx! 🙂

No problems as long as you know what you are doing with partitions & filesystems.

You may or may not want to run 64bit depending on whether the drivers exist for your hardware. It can be hard enough to get your hardware going in 32bit *nix, but unless you have very generic hardware 64 bit may be especially troublesome.

Especially your wireless nic if you have one
