He'd come out of nowhere, and pull a sword out of his mouth and start mowing down nonbelievers, just like muslims do.

I'm surprised that people really care that much about the waterboarding of a few Islamic radicals. Even if the occasional innocent is abducted, it certainly isn't anything nearly as bad as the thousands of civilians that died from our bombing campaigns in Afghanistan (not to mention Iraq.) If waterboarding Khalid Sheik Mohammed is a good way to gain legitimately valuable info, I hope they do do so, just don't say it publicly.

Heck if waterboarding a few American soldiers is good enough to get valuable intel out of them (or political rants) just don't say it publically (not so easy to dismiss waterboarding if Iran/Iraq/Saudi Arabia gathered up American soldiers and began doing this in my mind). I personally don't think we should torture in the name of security because it is all too easy to become the beast we are imitating in an attempt to slay it. The balance of security and freedom is the cornerstone of Western democratic political process.

Transparency is critical for the republican (not party) process to continue (as is freedom of press in my opinion). People don't (can't) emotionally connect with tens of thousands of dead civilians but can identify personally with a named torture technique that they can imagine be perpetuated on themselves or family. Waterboarding is a graphic personal symbol that individual's can relate to and demonstrate their unconscious or unspoken sadness/fear/confusion/anger at the thousand's of dead on all sides. (I am not advocating or denouncing waterboarding).

What you do to the least of mine, so do you do onto me. What would Jesus do? What he does now, suffer the torture with them.

So you don't care if they do it as long as you don't know about it?
