Besides some of the suggestions in the thread, you could also add motion-activated lights around the outside of your house and make sure you have good deadbolts on your doors and that there aren't breakable windows nearby that some could use to open the door by reaching inside.

That was very odd behavior by the trespasser, I would be concerned as well.

Here's a deal on a Gun Vault: http://palmettostatearmory.com/gun-vault-gv-1000-mini-vault.html The batteries last several years, and then there's a key backup.

Used Glock: http://www.sportsmansoutdoorsuperst...gen3g/glock-23-40sw-police-trades-(gen3)-good if anything ever breaks on a Glock, they'll fix it for free, forever, and they rarely ever break.

Transfer FFL dealer: http://www.gunbroker.com/FFL/DealerNetwork.aspx

Light (20% off for BF): https://store.teamglock.com/accessories/glock-tactical-light-gtl-10.html

I've never lived anywhere that the police responded in less than 20 minutes, a lot of horrible things can happen in 20 min.

What's up with all the gun talk OP stated he in not interested.
I second the motion activated flood lights.
It would be wise to get a wired phone. Honestly anyone with kids or elderly in the home should have a wired phone. Remember wireless 911 calls usually go to the state police.

Good points. Too many gun folks willing to shoot an intruder (something I wholeheartedly support) aren't responsible enough to install lights, alarms, trim hedges close to the house or do any of those other sensible things that would deter an intruder before it becomes a gunpoint situation.

The second the OP's friend saw a masked prowler he should have dialed 911 and provided a complete description. The fact that he didn't do so or get license plate number on the car he was following put's his story into question.

Well, thread was resurrected so I'll add my two cents. Call the police! Don't watch out the window, grab the gun, etc. Call the police FIRST! You could have nabbed him!
