wuweb.dll error 0x8ddd0004 ???

IE 6 got funky on me, upgraded to IE 7 not much change if any....tried to update at ms updates site but keep getting this error. Followed ms procedure to resolve including registry hive permissions in safe mode for relevant account including administrator.... no good

also did this procedure to re-register various .dll's -

all worked except last one ie wuweb.dll
" Load library (wuweb.dll) failed - error performing in page operation"

so i still can't update xp, not even with firefox.

Anybody know how to get wuweb.dll to work ? (i know it's on my comp)

my system is win xp sp2 p4
