hey guys, my PC locks up in games such as warcraft3
I'm NOT overclocking

running:
XP 2600+ t-bred (12.5x166, stock)
asus a7v8x-x
enermax 300W
512mb apacer DDR333

I think it's heat related cuz when i open the side of my case and blow the mobo with my table fan it wont crash :) I got a better case with 3 80mm fans for better airflow and artic silver5, and upped Vcore by 1 increment, helps a little bit but it just rebooted itself recently again (reported 55C).

my temperature: 38C idle, 50ish load (normally)

are those too much for T-bred to handle or is my cpu just bad???
I dont want to spend too much on upgrade,

any advice is welcome thx

upping vcore won't help temperatures, but if your temp readings are remotely accurate, they shouldn't be causing a crash.

It's possible something else in the system is overheating though; check your video card fan (I've had trouble with the fan on an mx440 once). Now that I see it's a lockup during games, I would bet video card temps, or drivers are to blame.

Also, is the AV7 board a kt266 board? If so, I had a somewhat similar problem that was cured by disabling 'automatically restart on system failure' (start-system-advanced).

oh sorry, its the a7v8x-x board, my bad
pretty sure its not the video card, my mx440 is passively cooled, and i also tried a relatively new mx400, also gave me same problem

I'm not entirely up on my asus nomenclature, but I think that's a newer via chipset board (KT400 I'd assume), I'd still try diabling the automatic restart on system failure, and see if that helps.

yeah the mobo is kt400, i'll try disabling the auto reboot, but the problem i had with WC3 before was it crashing(freezing), not rebooting my pc...
