I know that this has been discussed before, but I just want to make sure that my production doesn't drop over the winter break.

How do I transfer WU to OK proxy from a computer that doesnt have seti installed, and then get WU back onto my computer. It will be impossible for my computer (athlon@1518mhz) to have an internet connection from December 20th til mid January. I will be able to install seti on the other computer if necessary.

You could use setidriver and set the chache high enough to last you over the break then manually dump them when the break is over. Or if you are talking about transfering unfinished WUs from your computer to OK so that you can download them later that can't be done. Not sure if I understand right.

Will you ever have an internet connection for it?

Probably have to trasfers WUs with floppys and cds to and from a computer that does have an internet connection. I thin kteh easiest way to do that is with setiq.

I have never used setiQ.... do I really need to use that? I thought there was a way to use floppies/cd-rw to do it, but how exactly would I go about getting new WU onto my computer so that it will crunch them and how do i get completed WU off of it and transfered back to OK or berkely

Install SETI Driver on both machines. Set the cache high enough so that it will give you enough WUs on the Internet-connected machine. It will download them to numbered folders (1, 2, 3, etc...) in your SETI Driver directory, whatever it may be. All you then need to do is cut and paste those numbered folders onto a floppy/Zip disk or burn them onto a CD-R/RW. Unfortunately, you'll only be able to get 4 on a floppy, each WU is ~300K in size, but the completed ones are much smaller, ranging from about 3-15K in size. Once the WUs have been processed, all you need to do is cut and paste them to a floppy/Zip or burn them onto a CD and go back to the Internet machine, cut and paste them into the SETI Driver directory there, and then start up SETI Driver and hit Transmit.

You could also use setidriver instead of seti q but you are going to need some sort of caching program and another computer that has an internet connection.

[EDIT] Thanks DM I've never sneekernetted WUs before.

I agree with Baldy18, SetiDriver would be the easiest and cleanest way to go. You would need a method to move them as each SetiDriver directory will be about 350k. (each new WU is in a separte numbered directory) So, only a few would fit on a 1.44MB floopy. I don't have a completed WU on this box so I don't know the size of a directory when the WU is complete, but it should be much smaller. A USB Zip Disk would work well for the transfer.

Good luck!
