this is pissing me off. my g/f's Hp 932c won't print just plain BLACK text or anything. The color cartridge it originally came with has been drained, but what does that have to do with printing black?? there is about 40% black ink left in the black cartidge, the printer has that stupid light blinking complaining about either empty color cartidge or color cartridge has been removed. and it just stays that way and won't accept any print job. The color option is disabled in the print setup, only black and white is enabled. Emailing hp didn't do much good either. was the printer designed this way?? or i'm forgetting something.

that is because the color catridge is used even though you only want to print blakc and white. I think there is only a couple of models of inkjets that print with the balck catridge only.

Most manufacturers do this now. I'm not sure why exactly, but I suppose it's so they can make more money (by forcing you to buy a color cartridge).

when you have something due, plenty of black ink, and the fvcking sh!t wont print. i hate inkjets even more so now.

This is why I bought a $179 Samsung ML-1210 laser printer and use it for almost everything. I still have an inkjet because there's just no other way to print low volumes of color pages, but for regular useage inkjets are the biggest rip-off around.

buying a nice laser printer will be much cheaper in the long run. cost per page will fall to pennies to the dollar instead of 20+ cents.
