There's strange powder on the window in my bathroom. Looks like a mixture of saw-dust and this sounds crazy - crushed ants'... Is this something to worry about? I've been cleaning it up for the past few weeks, but it keeps appearing a few days later. I even tried bug spray but it didn't help.

Unfortunately the batteries in my camera are dead. I'll try posting picture tomorrow.

Update: Spole to the exterminator lady this morning and without even coming on site she said those are carpenter ants. Apparently, this isn't as bad as termites and getting rid of those is fairly easy.

Either termites or carpenter ants.

You'd probably see the workers if it were ants, though.

I've seen some ants around. Ok, so what do I do, is this that bad? Keep in mind, this isn't my house, but rather a town-house I'm renting.

Call your landlord.

Call your landlord.

That I will, but in general what would he do? Just want to be prepared in case they have to call exterminator and I'll have to find a spot to sleep for a couple of nights.

Well I'm sure they'll call in an exterminator unless they're completely irresponsible. I dunno if you'll have to leave the house - that'll depend on what the exterminator decides to do I guess.

I would assume if the landlord is responsible for it then he would fumigate the whole house.

Starting asking your friends if they have any empty couches (or lady-friends if they have any room in their beds :thumbsup;).

basically... but ya.. call the landlord... start asking friends if they have a place for you to crash for a couple of nights... after a short story about termites and chemicals being sprayed in your house if they care for your safety at all it shouldnt be a problem haha

landlord will probably call the orkin man and get those green disks put around the outside of the townhouse.... along with chemical spray since they've already started
