WTH? Post office opened my mail??

I just brought in my mail today and I had a couple of credit card applications. I noticed that one was kinda ripped open and resealed with tape, and another one was ripped open on the side. What the hell is going on? Did they think there was a credit card in there and tried to take it?

If any sort of substance secreates from your mail they open it. Right after 9/11 i had a package that was leaking something...somewhow it had gotten wet and was like a sponge....po thought it was something else....didn't get my package for like a month and when i did it came in a big plastic bag...ripped open to all hell...and i had to talk to FBI agents about it lol

No, some scam artist just made copies of the credit card apps then sealed the envelopes.

The next step is they will open up credit accounts in your name, run up the bills, then dissappear. Your credit will be ruined. :Q

That's kinda odd...I mean if it's as obvious as you make it sound like that they just opened your mail and taped it back up. I've gotten stuff that was damaged in the mail that they've taped. I also left important papers for school at a hotel one time, and they sent them to me in a big yellow envelope that arrived at my house with a 6-7'' rip on the side...with all but one of my papers gone.

it got deposited in someone else's box, they opened the letter until they realized it wasn't for them, they gave it back to the PO who taped it back up and put it in your box.

IF the post office opens a letter, they usually include a note to that effect, or the tape will have printing on it to that effect.

Let's go with a simple theory: the envelope was damaged as the post office was handling it, and they taped up the damage they did.

it was only the credit card apps that were opened, all the other mail was left alone. I better call up amazon and capital one to make sure no new accounts were opened.

When the post office accidently rips open your mail they will stamp it saying the reason why it's open. If you don't have a stamp on it, someone is stealing your information.
