server density......blazes FTW:cool:

you mean blades? but ya, FTW! :D

+ virtualization software ain cheap....

tells ya most people here don't have a clue about the new I.T. :)

I thought a selling point of blade servers were to reduce costs while being more powerful and compact. How autonomic are they?

I guess I could use some cables.

um...about $2.5M in computer equipment? the cables you see is the side of a rack, we took the side off because it was getting too hot and we have air blowing directly on it :p

anyways, it's not an issue...I verified with my night manager and he's the new guy swapping out tapes...whew! :)

I love our video security camera + blackberry :)
Computer equipment depreciates before it shows up at your door.
I'd offer you 500K for that office, at best!

Mabey a bit more if you throw in that little asian slave.

there are eight racks in that picture,

2 more behind you....

I guess you can't see all the enterprise raid storage in 2 of the racks....

in the next room there are 1/4 million dollar machines, but ya, what ever you say :)

and please, don't call anyone a slave...it's bad form...
Well, since it's not in the picture it doesn't count. I've done the admin thing, that server room looks like a secondary backup closet!

What's bad form about calling slaves, slaves?

first of all, that guy is not a slave...not even asian..LOL, not sure where you got that from...

secondly, why do you think he's a slave? working 3rd ******? that does not make someone a slave...

depemds on how much $$ you have to design for software that can actually use them...

Ah, he just looked kinda asian in the picture. Get a better camera man! How could you tell the ethnicity of someone who robs your closet?

Well a slave is a toiler, he seems to be toiling to me.

that is the common mistake unless you're talking about saving server room space.

blades are typically more expensive than regular servers because you have to pay extra for the blade center + management software. which makes the implementation more expensive. but Dell, HP, IBM will tell you that saving space will save you money...not if you already have the space! how much is 4 square feet of office space anyways? when you look at everything, it doesn't really save anything...

not to mention when a blade center goes down, your entire pool goes down :(

okay. if that guy is breaking into there he's probably just gonna take your stuff, not hack you. he could hack you from the outside.

because I called his manager and verified his identity?

he just started his shift...and turned on the light to the server room and opened the door....that triggered the event...so no, not working hard at all :)

If he's not working he should be fired or whipped. Slaves ususally get whipped. Does your company supply the whips, or is that an expense item?

Is that your company, or are you just a worker too?

ok if I were that guy...again that's IF:

I would disable the camera, it's not hard and in plain sight...

after that, I would proceed to physically hack into a server or router and give myself root access. from there, I can plant a back door.

oh ya, I'll steal a couple of server too just to make it look like I robbed the place, but in fact, I just gave myself a backdoor, which might take months to find...

get it yet? you don't have to hack from the outside...often times, people hack from the inside...it's much easier :)

again, that's if, I'm not showing you how to hack...

why? for what point? so you can get l33t points to grow your e-peen to show off to your homies? people don't break into low rent server closets to hack them.

Are you an admin or a security guard?
This is like an exchange from 1995. :D

Any network worth its salt would have such redundant logging that the "backdoor" wouldn't last a day. Mabey you could bust out the sub7 and really pwn them!

LOL...go take a real hacking class please...any good hacker now a days would know how to hide a backdoor without trace.

besides, nowadays, networks run much leaner with much less staff, so ya, it takes longer to find backdoors. companies don't hire you just to look at the log files for one server, that's before the bubble burst. you're probably one of those lazy admins that didn't want to learn anything new and got phased out by the new breed of network engineers that can do everything. don't be bitter... ;)
