WTH? Is this the TT SilentBoost???

The silentchill is for the K7 (Athlon XP) and the silent boost is K8 (Athlon64)

These are probably cheeper on newegg.

That's incorrect. I had a K7 SilentBOOST before.

It looks like they got lazy and used a different image. The product might be the same though.

I don't think you're right on that one...

I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe Mobo and a 2800+ AMD cpu. My stock HSU started generating temps of 56+ C after running for quite some time in the upper 45+ but i was able to clean it out and it got back down to the upper 40's. I installed this HSU (hint, for this particular Asus just take out the Power supply and you will have no problems) and temps instantly went down 10c. The spread from idle to load is only 3 degrees C from 35 to 38 under a load. I decided to overclock to a 3200+ and the idle stayed the same and the load temp went up 1 degree. Great cooling no noise .. why go with anything else.

Amazing product! My idle temps on Barton 2600+: 32/33C, under load 42C. I also used artic silver on it. The fan is the quietest in the case. Great buy!

Absolutely fantastic, installs relatively easy. My XP 2000+ started idling at about 66 'C. I got this fan along with some silver 5 and wow now idles at 36 'C and I can barely hear it.

Very good HSF. It lowered my 2500+ Barton down 13 degrees. Make sure to buy a small tube of Arctic Silver 5 to go with it!

That's just THREE random reviews. They all appear to read that way.

Searching Newegg.com results with two versions of the SilentBoost. On for K7 one for K8.

On top of all of this, the SilentChill is marketed under Mad Dog Multimedia.

What gets me is that it has that same TT fan and looks identical to the SilentBoost

Well, the specs on the page say its for an "AMD® Athlon?"

I saw that at microcenter in the TT casing for SilentBOOST but with the Mad dog sticker on the fan. They just throw together whatever parts they have layin around is my guess

Don't buy no Mad Dog hsf, I bought one to cool a 2600+ and the biggest waste of money ever. The stock HSF that came with the 2600+ cooled it better then it.

I solved my own riddle by going to CompUSA. Infact, this is a ThermalTake SilentBoost with a Mad Dog sticker....how do I know? Well, it's in the SilentBoost package, it comes with TT SilentBoost instructions, it has "SILENTBOOST" and "THERMALTAKE" ingraved on the HS all over the place. Thanks for the skepticism, but this --to me-- is a steal by paying an extra $7 over NewEgg and getting it NOW rather than sometime next week.
