I work in a very large building. We have over 1,800 users on our network. One huge LAN. Everyone runs NT. The network Nazi's have us all locked out. Can't do a damn thing except change the screen resolution! :|

Anyway, every day at exactly 11:00AM a program called "rtvscan.exe" runs. I watch it go from within WINNT task mangler. It's uses up 80-100% of my CPU power for about 15 minutes. It's going thru my HD right now...it's clicking and clacking away.

I've tried disabling/shutting it down. No good. Won't do it. Just tells me "process could not be terminated."

Is this spyware? Are they looking for porno on my system? They won't find any. BTW, they scan everyone's system, not just mine.

What the hell is this crap anyway?

Wow. Talk about fast replies. Thanks much. But, isn't Norton "NAV?" We do have "Corporate Edition"....It has a little gold shield in the systray instead of the little computer.....

rtvscan = Real Time Virus scan. It's the scanner itself.
NAV runs a few process. defwatch.exe is another one and vpexrt.exe
I believe defwatch is the process that watches the NAV server for updates and vpexrt is part of the desktop interface.
Oh and vptray.exe is the thing that sits in your tray.
