wth is emo?

Music that expresses emotion. Generally, bands that put out song after song crying out about how life has wronged them get stuck in this "genre".
 
New? I knew about emo when I was 12 and I'm 25 now. Not that I ever liked emo though. It's just lame whiny music that is trying to be as feminine and weak/self loathing as possible. It's fans are people with gender identity issues. They're pretty much called hipsters these days though. The term emo is sort of dated.

so...is Arab Strap considered emo? because they have one heck of an album (The Last Romance). If it is indeed, then not all emo music sucks....😎
