WTH? I didn't know my neighborhood was so ethnically diverse.

Wow, i would hate to live in your world where you divide people by some imaginary line and decide on whether they're 'worthy' or not for your compassion.

I would hate to live in your world where everyone is "equal", therefore those who have more should be required to give to those who have less.

Well yeah, in my world i considered everybody equal, whether they're minority or poor, i don't consider them any less deserving. And i wasn't 'required' to do anything, it was a blast for me to see all the kids.

Its not what YOUR "required" to do or not do, its what you demand others do. Its really none of your business. Its called freedom of choice. If someone wants to hand out candy to only the kids in the neighborhood, hand out candy to no one or just hand out candy to minorities its really none of your concern. And the people handing out the candy shouldnt be forced to give it to someone they dont want to.

That said, we gave to everyone. With a smile.

Did you throw bottles at their windows when they wouldn't answer the door? Throw candy back in their faces saying "gimme some good candy mutha******!" One little kid even told our neighbor he was going to "cap his white ass". We had more police on our street than children half the night. These kids come to the neighborhood and act like you owe them something and they're here to take it. It may not be their fault they were raised to act in such a manner but it's not our fault either. We have our own families and homes to protect.

I live in a mixed neighborhood that is basically family oriented and respectable, and even my black neighbors won't answer their doors or let their kids stay out past 6PM on Halloween. It's like everyone goes in their bomb shelter and seals themselves in until morning.

As the snow flies
On a cold and gray chicago mornin?
A poor little baby child is born
In the ghetto
And his mama cries
?cause if there?s one thing that she don?t need
It?s another hungry mouth to feed
In the ghetto

People, don?t you understand
The child needs a helping hand
Or he?ll grow to be an angry young man some day
Take a look at you and me,
Are we too blind to see,
Do we simply turn our heads
And look the other way

Well the world turns
And a hungry little boy with a runny nose
Plays in the street as the cold wind blows
In the ghetto

And his hunger burns
So he starts to roam the streets at night
And he learns how to steal
And he learns how to fight
In the ghetto

Then one night in desperation
A young man breaks away
He buys a gun, steals a car,
Tries to run, but he don?t get far
And his mama cries

As a crowd gathers ?round an angry young man
Face down on the street with a gun in his hand
In the ghetto

As her young man dies,
On a cold and gray chicago mornin?,
Another little baby child is born
In the ghetto

I wonder what anand was giving out for halloween. Sticks of 1024 Megabytes of Ram. I heard he was giving out a few. 🙂

I used to go to other neighbourhoods on halloween. There weren't too many houses on my street that gave out so my father used to drive me around a bit and collect. Sometimes I would fill up a nice big garbage bag half way full.

Nowadays there are few people going out. I guess the white trash, black and mexicans only apply to the poster's area, then again in Canada we don't got mexicans.... I mean if you take the time and know every kid in your neighborhood you really do got problems.

I live in basically a "white" neighborhood and they truck the minorities in to trick or treat here. It has gotten out of hand. We get a lot of white trash, Mexicans, and Blacks....all who obvioulsy do not live in our neighborhood. It has actually ruined Halloween around here for us and for the first time EVER we did not have our light on or give out candy tonight. We put together those little bags of candy last week for every kid on the street and delivered them last night on our walk because we did not want to punish the local kids.

Wow, that seems a little sad that you went out of your way to not give kids treats simply because they weren't from your neighborhood. What would it have been, an extra $20 to give treats to the other children too?

Let them beg for candy in their own fvcking neighborhood. It's not my job to supply sweet treats to every impoverished kid that comes to my door, especially if I know they/re not from my neighborhood.

Yeah, thats what all those taxes I pay for welfare are for!

Fixed.

Its normal to trick-or-treat around the neighborhood, but when its a mass exodus, it becomes nonsense.

I remember my house handing out very nice candy in bags (little Halloween baggies with Reese, Snickers, none of the cheap stuff) back in my old neighborhood.

Initially it was fine, but then all these blacks/hispanics came pooring out of the woodworks like Vietnamese guerrillas during the Vietnam war. Give them a whiff of the good stuff and I swear they will call up all their friends who live nowhere near your place just to sample your goods.

Not to be racist or anything, as I'm could've been of other ethnic groups raping my doorbell. At the end of the night, we had to turn kids away because we had nothing left. And you know what? I felt bad for the younger kids that came with their parents that had to be turned away.

I give Ronstang a mighty  & join me in a

Even if this bothered me, it seems like just buying a couple extra bags of candy would be easier then going around the neighborhood handing out candy. Just tell her to do it though, who cares.

LOL, here I am wishing there were more people came by last night for tricks/treads. Because of lousy weather, we got exactly 3 kids came by. What I am going to do with that buck load of candies, I never know.

I can't defend anybody who decided to give or not give out candy based on race... I live in a very diverse area and I know race had nothing to do with my comment
before, it was the feeling of being used by people who didn't walk over from two streets down, but rather rode in bus's from their own crappy neighborhoods where they can't walk around after dark to collect free candy in mine, as well as to vandalize and make trouble which only happened late in the evening when all the local kids were home.

When I was about 7 we moved from a suburb to a fairly rural area. Every holloween we'd go back to the suburb and go trick or treating. It wasn't because they had the best candy, it was for the experience. In the rural area you'd get 5 houses and be tired. So noone ever did anything like that. But I have heard that alot of the yuppie neighborhoods that have sprouted up actually have guards and barricades on the roads to keep people out.

Doesn't bother me if they came from somewhere else to get candy. I spent aboutt $20, gave out only about half. I would double or triple that amount if i had that many kids to give out. They're KIDS, it was FUN, even if they weren't from my area, i wouldnt' have a problem with it.

If you want to be cheap, hateful, go for it, but i just find it a little sad that you're discriminating KIDS simply because they're not from your neighborhood.

The thing is, as I said in my first post... they wern't kids, they were teenagers without costumes along with a significant number of adults without costumes and they were the same people who were causing problems in my neighborhood by trashing things, all the kids who came around in costumes (and many who didn't) got candy from me & I enjoyed giving it to them regardless of wether I knew them or not ... as always its a few idiots spoiling things for everyone.

The middle of Flushing on 165th Street/78th Ave was my neighborhood. I was getting kids from Northern Blvd, Bayside, and Jamaica(Hillside Ave).

How do I know? I asked them with an inquisitive tone.

Have any of you ever been to the area these kids come from? I went to school in the projects, and daamit if a big ass dog didn't chase me at least once a week. I will give candy to anyone who comes to my house in a costume. made an exception when an out of area black kid come up to my house with no costume. I asked him what he was "I'm Kanye West, Bush doesn't care about trick or treaters" I laughed and he got 3 Reece Cups.

hehehe, i remember posting that he should be banned for that too. 🙂

what he posted in that thread was just in really really poor taste.

Boy I sure hate it when poor kids go to a nicer neighborhood because they want some extra candy 1 day out of the year .

ya me too.

funny thing, i just talked to my sister who lives in a $700k in the Northwest and she took her kids to a neighborhood where the houses were closer together to do their trick or treating. i guess i'm just going to have to give her a piece of my mind and let her know how wrong it is to trick or treat in neighborhoods that are not your own.

Well, right on. At least someone is putting THE FEAR back into Halloween 😀

yeah protecting your family from a 6 year old who threated to "bust a cap" oh nos! If a white kid said that, people would act shocked and leave it at that. but if it's a black kid "honey call the police we're in danger!"

I DON'T believe in voilence at all, but I remember being a kid and wanting to bust a cap in all the people who gave me those nasty ass Candy Corns, ughs!

I'm disappointed that the kids from the poorer areas didn't come around last night. I live in an apartment in a rural area and most of the parents don't bring their kids to the building, I guess because of the turnover in tenants they're not sure who lives here, and only take their kids to the houses they know. So usually the only kids I get are from the poorer neighborhoods because they'll go anywhere and everywhere for candy. I was all stocked up with the good stuff (white chocolate Reese's cups) and didn't have a single trick or treater. 🙁

Last year I took my daughter to the million dollar homes a few blocks from where we lived. We got tired from walkign 100 yards between each house. This year we went to Chicago where her cousin lived and trick or treted with them, she got much more candy because the houses were closer together. I guess I should tell my daughter she's not allowed to trick or treat with her cousin unless we all live in the same area
