WTH? Downloads take forever to start

Don't worry, I'm IT here and have full access to our CO and Server Room. However, I'm new here, so I'm not familiar with everything. Whenever I download a file(whether it be a patch or something off of my personal webserve) I've noticed that it seems to download the file on the server first -- then it transfers it to me. The reason I say this is because it will say "Getting file information" or whatever for the time it would take to download the file. Then it will finally transfer it to me at a very FAST speed. Anyone ideas?

Yea, you have a proxy firewall that is downloading and scanning the file before passing it off to you...

That's what I figured. Either that or virus scan was looking at it first. Thanks Bill -- I was just looking for confirmation that it was firewall or AV related.

yeah, virus wall, inline scanner, firewall passing data to scrubber.

A lot of these work by storing the file in memory/virtual memory as it is downloaded in full, then scanned, then transferred to client.
