Or I should I say what would you do if you were in my shoes? Or maybe those that are/were in my position, what did you do?

I've got something like 7 laptops of various ages in my house that I collected over the years. An atom netbook, old ass Compaq, a latitude Pentium M, and a bunch of core 2 duos. All in working condition.

I know I should try to sell at least the core 2s for a few bucks, but I really don't want to go through the hassle of shipping a laptop (original boxes are long gone), and forget craigslist.

So big time first world problem I guess, a pile of laptops in the basement the wife keeps mentioning every time I talk about building a new computer...

Sell. Ebay or FS/T here. Or recycle. But, OT isn't the place to discuss this. I.e., see 1st reply - we keep selling restricted to the FS/T forum here. -Admin DrPizza

Gve them to me. :D
Or take the cases off, set up a rack server and start a bitcoin/F@H farm.

sell it here.. not that hard to ship a laptop.. priority flat rate box and a lot of bubble wrap/peanuts

I actually gave away a netbook and an old Inspiron to family friends for their little ones (elementary kids). Neither were worth selling. Core 2s - sell them here

Actually how many exactly? Sell them for $150-$200 each shipped and you'll make decent cash. A fully functional laptop for $200 is a decent deal for someone who wants to build a HTPC or just needs a basic laptop for around the house or w/e. If building a new machine the case and psu alone will be 200 bucks.

install light linux distros on them and see how quick you can get your oldest POS to run. much more fun that testing them in a vbox.

or give them to people who dont know any better and tell them its linux like a month later.

DBAN & drop off to Goodwill; get yourself an Acer C720-series Chromebook like I did.

We have one computer (my wife's workstation, which I occasionally use for video editing & neffing) & the Chromebook (our floating couch-surfer). Has vastly simplified the computer crap in my house. Also slapped Roku's on my TV's & got rid of Cable TV/VCR/DVD/Bluray/other players. My technology collection is no longer a hassle :)

eBay them as "parts-not working", that way you can sell them AS-IS with wiped hard drives

slap em' in flat rate boxes and boom, $$$.

so basically you don't think the money you'd get from selling them is worth your time, you don't need the money enough to do the job.

Then just donate them and let them be someone else's problem.

donate them

You get a nice tax write off and some poor family gets their first computer.

The core 2 duo laptops are fine, sell them here or ebay or craigslist.

My core2 duo was getting slow as hell and overheating all the time. I took it apart, cleaned it and upgraded to an SSD. It's very fast now and does everything a laptop needs to do for me.
