I bet you at least 30% of them are returns from people who realized they overpaid. Then of course, there are issues with screens been dim or losing touch sensitivity. All in all, it's still at least $100.00 too expensive for what it is.

They're probably just returns. It really does cost companies money when people return an opened product due to their own indecisiveness... this is why some stores have restocking fees now.

I paid $420 bucks for my Motorola Q, while I can install Windows Mobile apps on it, the screen is small, not touch sensitive, and nowhere near as good as the iPhone. It has a whopping 51 megs of storage. The iPhone is a great deal, I couldn't get 8 gigs of space on my phone for all the money in the world. being able to install WM5 apps is great, but most of them suck and the good ones cost an arm and a leg. I've paid $75 bucks to get a decent calendar app, something for caller id & an alarm clock that has more options than time/on off.

If we see a WM that is closer to an iPhone, expect it to cost $900 bucks. iPhones aren't "smart phones" but out of the box it can do more than my Q, and that's with $75 bucks of additional software and a $35 memory card to give me a whopping 2 gig of space.

Can't you get a moto Q for $99 with just a one year contact now?

Man... you got hosed!

you can get deal if you sign a contract but I wasn't up for one for a long time, I think it's $99 with 2 year contract when it's on special. Right now at the Verizon store I saw Q's for 199 with 2year. But that's irrelevant, with the Q you're getting a whole lot less phone than with an iPhone, I can't run any PPC apps, Smartphone apps are mostly crap and like I said the storage is junk, having minisd is nice but it's slower than dirt and to play my divx movies well I have to encode them at a stupidly low bitrate to get it not to be choppy.

I hate AT&T that's the only reason I don't have an iPhone, I find the screen size/quality alone worth the price of admission, but that's just me *shrug*

Couldn't disagree with you more. I literally use it for everything now, e-mail/internet/phone/movies/music, in fact I typically check my phone for e-mail rather than sitting down at one of my computers. Sure it dosen't do everything, but what it does, it does well, well indeed.

That's spectacular, I'm glad you guys are feeding our ailing economy.

I got a T-Mobile Dash, with a 4GB memory card, for a grand total of $175. Now...tell me again what the iPhone does that it should cost $325 more (with a 2 year contract)? My phone does everything the iPhone does and more, for far less money. No, it doesn't look as good when it does it, but so what? It still has a very good color screen, and I wouldn't want that smudgy touch screen anyway.

I think almost every store I know charges restocking fees these days. I think its an outrage to. If I buy something, and when I go home and check it, it turns out to be crap, there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to return it, as long as I do it within a reasonable time, and the product is undamaged.

It depends on the situation. I know I worked in retail in high school, and we were the only big name store to not have restocking fees (circuit city) and people took advantage of it big time. Its sad that there are so many shady people out there who are perfectly willing to "rent" a laptop or camcorder when they need it, and then return it to the store for a full refund.

If something is damaged or doesn't work as advertised, there never should be a restocking fee. If its perfectly fine....eh, that's where a fine line has to be drawn, sometimes you can spot people who made an honest mistake, sometimes you can't.

If it doesn't come with a contract requirement (don't see anything about one on the refurbished site), it is a spectacular deal. Most smart phones cost more than $400 without a contract, even POS moto q's

You got a subsidized phone with a contract, I assume.

The iPhone has the best UI the industry has ever seen. The UI is obviously worth it to some people and is the reason it has gotten so many positive reviews. No one is saying it's perfect, but it is worth the expense to people who appreciate it. If this isn't relevant to you, just STFU and use your Dash & stop trolling.

when you activate the iphone via itunes it automatically locks you in a 2 year contract (for voice AND data I believe).

There is no subsidy on the iphone as of yet.

haha, I'm sorry, did I strike a nerve by using logic and reason? Yes, I got my phone with a one year contract extension - not the 2 years required to buy an iPhone. This is an anti-iPhone thread, not pro, so I believe YOU are the troll, mr preslove. Stop trolling me. Besides, I already said, good work feeding the economy. The more people waste their money on overpriced crap, the better it is for everybody.

I'm semi-torn on the subject of restocking fees. While for the honest people who have actually researched the product, bought it and taken it home in an attempt to enjoy it, this is fine. I did this with a pair of $150 speakers once, which I thought would be good, but turned out to be crap for me, so I returned it to Futureshop free; this was great as I probably wouldn't have bought it in the first place if I couldn't. Then there are the other people who seriously exploit these policies. I get semi-pissed when I hear people who "buy" a vacuum cleaner or camera, rent it out to friends and return them; and this was their intention right from the start. Others will just buy 5 things, try them all out and return 4 after no reseearch at all. A restocking fee would probably cut down on these. So the only one who will be screwed will be the honest customer.

It's a nice phone, but I'm very happy with my 8800. In a 3-4 years, after the iphone has been through a few production cycles, I'll consider picking up the nano version.

I have a Q, which is basically a Dash, what does the iPhone do that ours never will that make it worth $325 more. How about a FULL web browser, Windows Mobile IE or Opera are a damn joke. The majority of web sites don't render properly, if at all. To be able to access web pages in their full glory would be worth it to me. To put it into perspective if WM had a version/phone that had a browers that was equivalent to a PC browser, I would easily have paid a lot more for my phone - and I already paid $420 bucks for it. I use my internet a lot of the phone, and the EVDO speed is great but besides that - eeeehhhh!

and again the screen makes it worth more, maybe not to you. but the screen is infinitely better. It's like comparing a low low end LCD with a Plasma for a Television. a screen that's close to twice as big with a much higher resolution is going to cost more, period. My Q has a great screen for what it is, but it's not coming close to touching an iPhones screen. Any device with such a screen is going to cost $$$.

also as an mp3 player the iPhone is worlds better than anything we can do on our WM5/6 phones.

Why do people need to bash other people about what they buy?

Unless the person stole your money to buy the object, STFU!!!!!
