WTG Phelps

anyone think he can get 7 and outdo spitz?
I say no. He's strong, but not the best in the world in that many events. Plus the relays aren't strong enough (4x100 and 4x200 free relays).

The US womens 400IMer set a American record too. She almost took the ukranian, too bad hoff didn't swim well. I guess when you're 15 and have alot of expectation you can fold to the pressure. It's sad to see.

Phelps picks up first gold with world record.

Phelps' effort Saturday was a rousing start to the much-anticipated Olympic swim meet. Before the night was done, Ian Thorpe won his second straight gold in the 400 freestyle ? a race he got into only through the generosity of an Australian teammate ? and Jenny Thompson was denied her record-tying ninth gold medal when she gave up the lead to Australia on the final leg of the 400 free relay.

?It was a change of pace for me to be passed by someone,? Thompson said. ?It?s usually the other way around.?

😕

Also, how much would it go for on Ebay?

The Olympic gold medal was first presented in 1908. Before then, winners received silver medals. Today's gold medal is actually made of silver, guilded with at least six grams (0.21 ounces) of pure gold.
