I live in Edinburgh, Capital of Scotland so I guess it is a major city...
We have a bit of a war going on at the moment between ADSL providers and cable providers......Some places are seeing ADSL2 with speeds up to 24Mb down but only if you live on virtually on top of the exchange!!
UK was behind a year or so ago...but we have caught up in a major way now......TV companies are trialling TV over IP so big bandwidth is needed!! shouldn't be a problem with fibre optic but copper phone lines may struggle!!....Blueyonder say they have the capacity in the fibre to put all customers up to 50Mbit if the need arises!!!! I can't wait personally!!
