Well, when you have someone questioning 'his' actions, I kinda have to repeat myself.

And damn Tux, chill out.

It's pretty obvious that we all know Zeus is not real. There's no need to repeat the obvious.

No biggie, everyone did back then. It's only modern puritan enforced idea's that put such a stigma on these things.

So if it wasn't for the puritan enforced ideas we would all be having sex with little boys, girls and animals?

Thank you Puritans.

F*cking puritan assholes

Sure he is....he mows my lawn.

That's not Zeus, that's Jesus. That's ok, he was probably talking so fast you missed the first syllable.

That isn't really the point though.

He was just as real to the Greeks as any God is [to the people that believe] now.

Thank you Puritans.

Just saying until this century the average age of consent and often marriage was 13-16. Homosexuality and bisexuality was predominant in Roman and Greek history, as well as many if not most other cultures throughout time. Beastiality, well ok, that's always been looked at with a snigger I think, but it's happened forever.

It's only the strong attempts to enforce morality in the Western Hemisphere (especially America because of its puritan foundations) that have forced these things to become fetishes of the underground. Not that 13yr olds should be having kids, because there really are health concerns...but seriously 90% of America are ignorant prudes.

Homosexuality was rampant perhaps, but hardly predominant. Reproduction doesn't work so well that route. It was of course a normal, accepted part of society.

and what the hell, about the the 13-16 year old marriage thing??? The reason that was rampant earlier wasn't because of relaxed social mores, but because of a patriarchical society that placed no value on women. As women began to obtain social worth in the late 1800's up until now, the age of consent has also risen to reflect that we realize women this young are easily victimized and need to be protected. Maybe the rules have gone a little overboard already, but overreacting is always the case in pretty much anything.

In truth the #1 reason for the increase in age of marriage/consent is longer lifespan and research indicating childbirth before maturity is dangerous to mother and child. Even in America many if not most girls were married and pregnant by 15-16 until this last century.

Yep, the gods must be crazy.

I'm reminded of Goya's painting of Saturn devouring his sons.

p.s. Google (image) search "goya saturn" for details. Probably NSFW.
