WTF! You cant manually manage music on the iPhone - Playlists only

Why the hell would apple take a step back like this? I just found out the hard way.

I despise playlists, I want full control... WTF was apple thinking?

this has been a feature of every iPod for years now, the omission of this feature is not something they just announce "Oh yea, you can only use playlists now"

i can't imagine browsing 25g of music on my ipod without playlists.

I've always just had a single playlist called "ipod" and had that sync to my ipod mini when I had it. I wanted auto sync, but didn't want random songs on there.
