ARGH that pisses me off!! REPEAT?!?! Why the hell would you want to listen to the same song over and over? That's what my bro does to my winamp, he keeps putting repeat on, and he does listen to the SAME song!!! Ahhhhhhh!

I always have mine set on Shuffle. I couldn't stand to listen to the exact same song over and over again. :p

Same here. My sister used to do that. Drives me insane...

Also with the monitor brightness/contrast. Some always f*ck it up...

It's so annoying...

At least my brother doesn't touch my monitor... If he did, I'd have to do something about THAT.

He doesn't mess up ALOT of stuff, he just does the same thing consistently, and it's very annoying. Putting repeat on Winamp.. I disable it every time I use it, and it's always back. My keyboard, he adjusts the little stands each time he uses it, bastard!..

I let my playlist go for a long time (eg. 6 hour q3 LAN parties) I don't want it to just stop when it's used them all. It takes about an hour before I get the same song again anyway (130+/- song playlist right now.)

Repeat is used for more than just repeating one song. It is used for repeating playlists as well.

So ifyou have a 100 song playlist with RANDOM and REPEAT on ... you are golden.

Does your brother know it pisses you off?

That may be his motivation...

I once used it in the dorm, when I rigged 4 kids stereo systems to my computer, and played sexual healing at full volume at 8:01am saturday morning.(quiet hours end at 8am)

we had a bone to pick with a kid, so we woke him up a little :)

I have about 50 or so of my mp3's on my playlist, on shuffle/repeat. 50 songs will last awhile, but not forever, and who wants to have to restart it when it ends? ;)

heh.. my playlist is 29 hours long (with 400 songs). not bad on a 56K modem eh? I started with MP3's (I think) 3 years ago, however, after reformat after reformat, I had to keep deleting them all (no CD burner, 200 meg hard drive).

after about 1 year, we upgraded our P133 to a 4.3 gig fujitsu, and didn't have to reformat nearly as often, however I never thought about storing them on a sperate partition then, and every time I reformatted they went bye bye! I must have lost a gig of MP3's that way.

so, anywho, I upgrade my proc and mobo, and buy a CDRW after a little bit. now I have all the MP3's backed up, but I haven't had to reformat due to a problem in windows for a long time! dah! sucks that I learned how to keep windows pretty stable! I barely have ANY problems with windows anymore.. and if I do, instant reformat. hmm.. I would get ghost, but it's too easy.. I'd rather keep my practice up..

anywho, back on topic. I use the RANDOM feature on Winamp all the time, with repeat on for good measure (I never need it, how often have you repeated a 29 hour playlist!). I have all the MP3's on CD only, so one disc in my CDRW, and one in my DVDROM.. then whenever I accumulate another 650 megs of MP3's, I burn another CD! unfortunately, this means I have only 2 CD's in at once (hmm. a new hard drive would be nice!)..

My playlist is about 215hrs (assuming 4min songs). I tend not to use shuffle because I've got so much variety it doesn't "flow". The "j" function in winamp 2.6 onwards is SO welcome on my playlist!!

I DO use repeat, but only occasionally when I've got a new song that I just CAN'T get out of my head.

that's what i used to do, but since they introduced the jump menu it's just so much easier to have EVERYTHING up there.

Only downside is it means winamp takes up over 19MB of memory :)

I often just pick one of my songs and listen to it for a while.

sometimes when i'm doing something fun, i forget about the song being on, and had listened to it like 50 times in a row.

LOL if you have a thousand MP3's!

I never will (unless I get a new HD, and put all my songs on one drive) have all my MP3's on at once, becuase I listen to them straight off the CD I put them on, so with more then 3 CD's, I can only listen to 2/3 of the songs that are on CD, the rest are new ones on the hard drive that I put on CD once I have 650 megs of them..

Jump is SO the BEST feature of winamp to date!

I have 3200 songs in my playlist for a good reason. They are sorted by artist\album then by track number so I see somethign like this:

Beautiful Freak - Eels - Novocaine For The Soul
Beautiful Freak - Eels - Susan's House
Beautiful Freak - Eels - Rags To Rags
Beautiful Freak - Eels - Beautiful Freak
Beautiful Freak - Eels - Not Ready Yet
Beautiful Freak - Eels - My Beloved Monster
Beautiful Freak - Eels - Flower
Beautiful Freak - Eels - Guest List
Beautiful Freak - Eels - Mental
Beautiful Freak - Eels - Spunky
Beautiful Freak - Eels - Your Lucky Day In Hell
Beautiful Freak - Eels - Manchild
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - Public Service Announcement
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - Kill You
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - Stan
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - Paul (skit)
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - Who Knew
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - Steve Berman
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - The Way I Am
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - The Real Slim Shady
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - Remember Me?
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - I'm Back
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - Marshall Mathers
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - Ken Kaniff (skit)
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - Drug Ballad
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - Amityville
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - B---- Please II
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - Kim
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - Under The Influence
The Marshall Mathers - Eminem - Criminal

Now this is about as organised as it can get, but it's still so much easier to use jump. For example all I have to do to get "Kim" is type "jkim[return]" and the song's playing. Less than half a second to find & play one track out of 3200.

Scrolling is SO slow.
